A51 🌺WILIWILI TREE (Erythrina sandwicensis) Fabacea family
Tree endemic to Hawai’i, almost brought to extinction by a gall wasp. This tree is summer deciduous and grows in rocky, harsh environments. Its wood was once used in surfboard and canoe building. Ama (outrigger) were, until recently, made from its lightweight wood.
