Perennial succulent shrub is found on rocky outcrops and slopes of South Africa. Once thought to be in the Portulaca family it’s been determined to be of a family only found in Madagascar. Recent research shows it to be an excellent “carbon sponge” with the ability to use more carbon from the air than most plants. It can grow 8 to 15 feet; is easily rooted from stems.
